Har-Bur’s voting party for the 2008 Intermediate Nutmeg Children’s Book Award was held on Thursday, January 31 and was hosted by Mrs. Dias, Mrs. Lynch, Mrs. Arum, Mrs. Banta, and Ms. Ricci. Fifth and Sixth graders who voluntarily read at least 6 out of the 10 nominated titles and participated in book talks or the Spice It Up a Notch with Nutmeg Wiki throughout the fall and early winter were invited to attend the celebration. During the party, students were able to enjoy refreshments, discuss the books, make suggestions for changes to the program, and cast their votes for their favorite books. |

Each student took home a Nutmeg pencil and a bookmark of his or her choice. Votes were tallied and the results were submitted to the Nutmeg Committee. Har-Bur’s results were four votes for The Lightning Thief, two votes each for Jackie’s Wild Seattle, White Star: A Dog on the Titanic, and Project Mulberry, and one vote each for Escaping the Giant Wave, The Ravenmaster’s Secret, Shredderman: Secret Identity, and The Seven Professors of the Far North.
