Dave Tanner came to Region 10 after working in the Simsbury Public School system for 8 years as a middle school science teacher. While in Simsbury, Tanner Coached varsity Badminton (7 years), earning five State Badminton Championships.

Prior to coming to Simsbury, Tanner served as the Varsity Women's Soccer Coach at Fairfield University from 1994-1996 recording a career record of 31-23-5. The Stags won the MAAC conference championship in 1995 and finished the 1996 season ranked 10th in the Northeast, their highest finish through the first 5 years of the program. Prior to assuming head coaching duties, Tanner was the programs first assistant coach starting the program with former National Team player Debbie Belkin in 1992. In 1993, they also won the MAAC Championship.

Prior to coaching at Fairfield, Tanner also served as the varsity girls soccer coach at Tolland High School (1990-1992) and varsity girls basketball coach at Bloomfield High School (1986-1988). In 1989, he served as an Assistant Men's Soccer Coach at Miami University (Ohio). In addition, Tanner has worked in the Olympic Developmental soccer programs in Connecticut and Ohio South.
