Free sports physicals will be offered on Thursday June 12th
at 12:30. Please see the school Nurse to sign-up in advance.

4/24 Anna Shields running
at the Penn Relay finished 4th in the mile with a time of
4:48:2. Stephanie Morgan a senior from Ohio won the race at
the time of 4:41, the fastest time run by a high school girl
for the mile. Shields time was 10 seconds faster than her
previous best of 4:58 set last Saturday at Irv Black Invitation.

Courant State Indoor Track Athlete of the Year!
4/4 Congratulations to Tommy
Ponte (All State in Class M Boys Basketball) and Rachel Considine
(Academic All-State in Basketball). They were both honored

Shields won the 1000 meter race at the 2008 New England
Indoor Track Championships held at the Reggie Lewis Center
in Boston, MA. Shields ran a 2:53.77, .23 seconds off her
school record time of 2:53.54 and 2.2 seconds ahead of the
second place runner. Bristol

Shields joins Shebly Walton of Danbury (55M - 7.18) and the
Glastonbury 4 x 800 relay team (9:22.35) as the only Connecticut
girls to win titles at the New Englands.
Shields will next run at the Nike Indoor Nationals held March
14-15-16 in Landover Maryland. She will be competing in the
5000 meter race.
2/28 Girls Basketball
defeats Griswold by a score of 54-23. They will play Montville
at 6:00 on Saturday at Maloney in the first game of a Class
M double header. Montville defeated Suffield
46-39. Plainville
will play Morgan

#24 Ledyard
(9-11) on Tuesday 3/4 at 7:00 in the first round of the Class
M Boys Tournament.
2/26 Girls Basketball to play
#14 Griswold
on Thursday at 7:00 at LSM in the second round of the Class
M State Tournament. Griswold defeated North
Branford 48-38
on Tuesday night.
2/23 Girls Basketball wins Berkshire League Championship
30-26 over Shepaug! Sami Pelletier lead the way with 9 points
and Steph Schur added 7 to help Mills win it's first Tournament
Championship in over a decade!

2/23 The cheerleading team competed at Nonnewaug High School
in the annual Chief Challenge Cheerleading Competition. The
Top Gun Stunt Group of Kiki Alverez, Amanda Obrizzo, Jessica
Kelley, Chelsea Solkowski and Annie Zepp finished in first
place with a score of 100.3. The team's next competition will
be at Quinnipiac University on Saturday1 MAR 08.
2/21 Spring Physicals to be held on March 13th. Students
must sign up in the Nurses Office prior to the 13th. See the
Nurse with any questions. These physicals are free to students.
2/20 Rachel Considine and Sami Pelletier named first team
All-Berkshire League. Aubrey Hoyt and Alexis Veith named to
second team. Rachel Considine also named 2008 Ed Kolakowski
Award Winner with Samantha Steinmetz of Shepaug. Click

2/16 Anna Shield wins the 1000(sets new open record) and
1600 at the CT
State Open indoor track championships yesterday. Will
Estes ties for 16th in the High Jump. Michael Orefice places
8th in the Long Jump. The girls team finished tied for 6th
place overall.

2/8 Girls indoor track places
6th in Class S State Meet; Boys place 14th. Anna Shields wins
the 1000 and 1600 setting new meet records in each. Mike Orefice
finished 2nd in the long jump setting a new school record!
Will Estes placed 4th in the high jump and Molly Tower 6th
in the 600 (new school record). Freshmen Ryan Witkowski placed
14th in the 55 meter dash running the fastest of any freshmen.

fastest time in the nation in the 1000 meter; 2nd
fastest time in the nation in the 1600 meter; 24th
fastest mile time; and FASTEST
TIME IN THE NATION in the 3200 meter.

SPRING 2008 ATHLETES:
Spring sports try-outs will begin on March 17th. Details will
be posted as they become available. Please remember that you
must have a current physical exam(form
in pdf format) as well as your Student
Athlete Policy and Emergency Medical Authorization forms
in before you can tryout. Important note: Your physical exam
must have been completed in the past year to be current. After
you turn your physical into the nurse, you should pick up
a blue physical card from her that you will turn into your
coach at tryouts. This is your ticket to tryout. No one may
practice or play until the coach has their blue card. Students
will not be allowed to hand their physicals to the coach at
tryouts to be cleared.
ACADEMIC REQUIREMENTS:
Students in grades 9 to 12 participating in interscholastic
sports or other after-school
activities must maintain passing grades in 4 major subjects.
