The New Lewis S. Mills Weather Center

The Lewis S. Mills Weather Center is run by one student and an Environmental Earth Science Teacher. The creator and founder of this unique program is Michael Michaud, a 2007 graduate, who was given the title “Chief Meteorologist” when he began writing daily weather forecasts as a sophomore. After Michael graduated, the role of “Chief Meteorologist” was assumed by Garrett Calvo, who is currently a junior at Mills. Garrett gathers data from the LSM Weather Station, writes up a report and reads his daily forecast over the morning announcements. Along with providing daily forecasts, he unofficially calculates the percent chance of “no school,” “90-min delays,” and “early dismissals” in the winter.  Garrett’s forecasts are very accurate, so he is a popular person on days preceding large winter storms, big games, or field trips!
