Creating a Presentation
MS Power Point (PPT) is a useful application program that is used to create presentations. It has all the formatting tools as MS Word, including Clip Art and Picture insertion.
Starting Power Point.
PPT can be found in the Start Menu, Programs sub-menu. When launched, a start-up window appears with the option to “Create a Blank Presentation” or “Open an Existing One”. Select ‘Create a Blank Presentation’
Selecting a Slide
PPT has different slides layout depending on the
content. You can insert Title Slides,
Text Slides and Image Slides to your presentation. Also, you can have columns and charts. Select the Title Slide.
Inserting Text
Each slide in PPT has resizable boxes where text can be inserted. To insert text, single-click the box and type the text. As you type, the text size will be adjusted to fit in the box. You may also resize a box by clicking on the box, pointing to a corner-square and clicking and dragging the mouse to an appropriate box size. Insert a Title on the first slide.
Inserting a Slide
After the first Title Slide, we will insert another slide. Click on Insert and select Slide (you can also press CTRL + M). Then, choose a slide layout. Insert a Slide and select a Bulleted List.
The Bulleted List slide lets you insert a title and text in
a bulleted list. Click on each of the
boxes to add title and text. To go to
the next sentence/idea, press Enter and another bullet will appear on a new
line. Insert one more slide – Two
Column Text
Each time you insert a new Slide, you need to choose a layout. You can later change the slide layout in the Format menu. You can also add or delete some objects in the layout and customize it to fit your presentation.
Extra text-boxes can be inserted as needed. To do so, click on the Insert Menu and select Text-Box.

Insert one more slides (select Blank from the layouts). Using the Text Box tool, add a title box and a text box.
Views
There are different views of the presentation while editing. The most common one is Normal. You may change these views by clicking on the View Menu or on the buttons at the lower left corner of the program.
In Normal view, single-click on the slide and push Delete on the keyboard.
Navigation
To go from slide to slide, under Normal View, you may click on the slides on the left.
Apply a Design Template
To apply a Design Template, click on the Format menu and then Apply Design Template.
Select a Template and then click Apply.
Also, you may change a slide’s background color by clicking on the Format menu and Background.
You can apply your own formatting using the Formatting Toolbar. Using this toolbar, you may change the Font Type, Font Size, Bold, Italicize, Underline, Align Left, Center, Align Right, Highlight Text and Change Text Color.
To apply any of these formatting changes, you first need to select the text that you wish to format. You may do so by highlighting the text or clicking in the border of the box so that the changes will be applied to all text inside.
Viewing a Slide Show
To view the Slide Show, you may click on Slide Show menu and select View Show or press F5.
To go to the next slide in the show, you should press Enter. To go to the previous slide, you should press Backspace.
