Dear Parents and Guardians, Welcome to the 2007-2008 school year at Lewis S. Mills High School! My name is Karissa Niehoff, Principal of Lewis S. Mills High School, and together with Assistant Principals Mrs. Pamela Lazaroski and Mr. Peter Bogen, our teachers and all of our staff, we would like to extend an invitation to each of you to become an active part of your student’s high school experience. Our goal at Lewis Mills is to provide our students with the highest quality education possible. Students are encouraged to be independent and self-directed. They may expect to be treated fairly and provided a safe environment in an atmosphere of trust and mutual respect. They will be challenged to reach their greatest potential so that they will be productive, creative, and responsible members of society in today's ever-changing world. Academic standards and expectations for students are high at Lewis Mills High School. These are facilitated by an experienced and well-trained faculty. The curriculum is both challenging and accommodating to students of all backgrounds. In addition to a strong traditional academic program, we have many co-curricular activities involving athletics, music, theatre, student government, and academic enrichment. We are very proud of the many accolades that our students have earned for their achievements in both their academic and co-curricular pursuits! This year we will continue to focus on providing more avenues for parents to become informed about the activities and resources at Mills. We encourage an open avenue of communication between school and home as we work together to gently guide students through four exciting and challenging high school years. We rely on your support of our learning expectations through your involvement at home-making certain that homework is completed and that academic expectations are a priority. At the same time, it is our hope that parents feel welcomed to bring their talents, ideas, knowledge and support directly onto campus for the benefit of all Mills students. We believe that our combined commitment will help students to excel in learning, become better citizens, and will help to build stronger communities. We are pleased to have you as part of the Lewis S. Mills High School community and wish both students and parents a very successful school year. Sincerely, Karissa Niehoff Principal Dear Lewis S. Mills Students, Welcome to the 2007-2008 school year! To our freshmen, the Class of 2011, get ready for the most exciting years of your life! High School is metamorphosis on a grand scale.
