Greetings! My name is Barry Nolan. I have been teaching mathematics at Lewis S. Mills for the past nine years. I currently teach Algebra I, Algebra II Honors, Advanced Placement Calculus AB/University of Connecticut Early College Experience Calculus I, and Advanced Placement Calculus BC/University of Connecticut Early College Experience Calculus II.
I strongly believe that it is essential for students to acquire both a conceptual and procedural understanding of mathematics. To meet this objective, I promote a classroom culture in which students are actively engaged in the learning process. This is accomplished by using appropriate technology, working in both small and large group settings, and communicating mathematical ideas through classroom dialogue and written assignments. Moreover, I have created a classroom environment in which I enthusiastically create a challenging, yet rewarding, experience for all students.
