The Library program at Lake Garda helps to enhance the K-4 curriculum. Children in grades K-3 visit the media center weekly . At that time they are able to check out books, have a story and follow-up activity and start to learn about the resourses available at a library. Through these visits they will develop an appreciation for books and a love of reading.
The 4th graders visit the library every other week to exchange books. They will be working on a grade level research project which will involve working with reference materials and on-line searching on the web. They will be using the BIG6 research model to complete their project. Third graders will research rocks and minerals. Fourth graders will be exploring famous Connecticut people and places. Fifth graders will be using resources to research Colonial America topics.
To see what's happening in each of the grades, click on each grades' link.
