First graders have learned many different ways to sort our math manipulatives!  We have sorted buttons, seashells, rocks, creepy crawlers, and tiles by different attributes including shape, size, color, and kind.  To practice sorting at home, give your child a small baggie of materials such as those listed above and challenge them to sort one, two, or maybe even three different ways!  For added fun, show your first grader how you can sort something and ask them to “Guess your Rule!”
