Math Stations

Back To Ms. Cragin's Home Page

Students are learning about the concept of greater than, less than, and equal to in math.  They engage in hands-on activities at different comparing stations to help them gain a concrete understanding of the concept.

Ms. Cragin works with some students on a math game at the SmartBoard.  Students look at two groups of objects and either compare them visually or count them, then decide which group is more, which group is less, or whether the two groups have an equal amount of objects.  The game is a featured link on our class webpage for  January/February.  Have your child try it out!

Students choose 2 line puzzles to compare.  They predict which line puzzle will hold more linker cubes and then they test it out!  (Excellent for fine motor skills as well).  For an added challenge, students can figure out how many more or less cubes puzzle 1 held than puzzle 2.

Students chose 2 shape  puzzles to compare.  After predicting which they think would hold more, they were challenged to see how many blocks would fit inside each shape and compare how many more or less shape 1 held than shape 2.

Two-Handed Dice Roll- Students roll 2 dice, use chain links to visually represent each number, compare which is more and which is less, then record with a math sentence using symbols.
