Mathematics Computation

Students are finding that being able to easily manipulate numbers mentally and through pencil and paper computation allows all energy to focus on problem solving!

Mathematics

 Computational Fluency

During the year fifth graders will be working to develop the important skill of computational fluency, which is using strategies that are accurate, reliable, and efficient to perform calculations. Knowing basic facts (addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division) is necessary for success in this area. In the photo students are seen playing a tri-corner math game to practice multiplication facts, and on the Region 10 math website a list of additional activities to practice facts can be found under the Frequently Asked Questions- Activities to Practice Addition and Subtraction, and Activities to Practice Multiplication and Division. A series of essays on this topic can also be found.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO . . .

As our classmates turn a year older, we celebrate by creating a card that contains a joke that has not been offered previously during the year! Students may bring in a treat to share with the class. Students having a summer birthday may choose a day to be there special day! Congratulations to our ten year olds!
