The class participated in a “Probability Carnival”. Students created their own carnival games. We then played each other’s games, and found the chances of winning each one. |

I would like to take this time to welcome you and your child to Room 225. I am looking forward to working with your child. Together, I know that we can make this a very productive and rewarding year.
Our classroom rules were discussed with the students the first week of school, and incorporate the Har-Bur Middle School code of conduct which is printed in the handbook.
The rules we have decided on are as follows…
1.) Work Smart.
2.) Work Hard.
3.) Work Together.
Students know that if they are to act-up/ call-out in class then there are consequences for their actions. The consequences are as follows:
1.) First Strike: Name on board.
2.) Second Strike: Student must copy rules over onto paper.
3.) Third Strike: Student must fill out a behavior form signed by student, teacher, and parent.
4.) Forth Strike: Office referral.
During a normal week, vocabulary words will be assigned and assessed. Students should also expect weekly math quizzes, and biweekly math assessments. In reading, students will be turning in a Reader’s Response Journal every week to be graded. For writing, all final work pieces will be collected and graded. Science and Social Studies quiz and test dates are to be announced.
Your child should expect to have about 45 minutes of homework, including 20 minutes of reading each night. Homework assignments are posted on the homework board every morning. Each student is responsible for recording their homework in their assignment book. Homework, important notices, and corrected work should be kept in your child’s homework folder. I do ask that you review your child’s assignment book frequently.
I also ask that you help your child keep track of specialty days. Students are expected to come to their special prepared. Often times that means, sneakers for P.E., a smock for Art, and their musical instrument for Band. Our special schedule is posted on this page.
Thank you in advance for your involvement in your child’s education!
Sincerely,
Ms. Cavallari
